Dr. Annette Bradley grew up in a small-town in Nebraska and received her undergraduate degree from Chadron State College in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. She then graduated from the University of Florida Veterinary School in 1993 but she is still a ‘Cornhusker’ at heart.

After practicing small animal medicine in Arizona and Idaho, Dr. Bradley finally settled in Denver, Colorado. She started Annie’s Animal Clinic in south Denver. The clinic grew to be a 4-doctor, 17-employee small animal practice. After 20 years, she decided to sell her practice and move to Grand Lake, Colorado in the Colorado Rockies. Dr. Bradley then started Trailhead Mobile Veterinary Clinic and enjoyed practicing small animal medicine in the mountains. After 2020 and 2021, her and her husband moved to the mountains west of Colorado Springs so she could take a year off. They enjoyed watching the deer graze in our front yard and listening to the owls talk to each other at night. They recently moved down to Colorado Springs to ‘re-enter civilization’ and joined Home with Dignity where she can continue practicing mobile veterinary medicine in a different capacity.

Dr. Bradley has a true passion for end of life care and is happy to help clients that have to make those touch decisions. She is prepared to help you and your family during this time and guide you through the euthanasia process.

Dr. Audrey Washburn grew up in rural North Carolina and Virginia, before finally landing in Colorado Springs. In 1992 she came to love the west while working at Glacier National Park and living in Missoula, Montana. However, her education was calling and she headed to Cornell University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources.

This led to a job with Avian Research and Conservation Institute in Florida, where she followed migrating hawks between the southeastern US and Latin America for over a decade and acquired her master’s degree in wildlife ecology and conservation. As a wildlife biologist, she organized and presented at international meetings on raptor conservation and monitored endangered woodpeckers and sea turtle nests in South Carolina. She even learned Spanish and Portuguese.

Due to a desire to interact with people more, she decided to go to veterinary school. Still wanting to travel, she chose to attend Massey University School of Veterinary Medicine in New Zealand, where she developed an interest in geriatrics, endocrine disease, and nutrition.

Dr. Washburn returned to the states and practiced veterinary medicine in Virginia and then in Colorado Springs. During her years in practice, she realized there was a serious unmet need for in home euthanasia in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had met so many pet owners who had struggled with a life-ending disease in their pets and determining whether or not pet euthanasia was the best option. Dr. Washburn knew the clinic was not the best place for owners and pets to say goodbye.

Luckily, she found us, and we found her, and a great professional relationship was born. Dr. Washburn now takes her many years of experience and puts these valuable skills to work helping our clients in Colorado Springs say good-bye to their pets in the comfort of their own home. Dr. Washburn is one of our very special doctors who has that unique ability to attend to these families and help them through the process of in home euthanasia.

Since her first childhood dog Labby (a Lab, of course) and her cat named Pretinho, she has known the joys and sorrows of having pets. Chiara was the first dog she adopted on her own. They traveled everywhere together, including to New Zealand and back again. And of course, the day came when she had to make the tough decision to let her go.

Dr. Washburn says, “…being a veterinary practitioner, you can’t help but feel the deep sense of attachment we have with companion animals. We all know it, but we don’t want to say it; we will outlive our wonderful pet friends. When that day comes, we want the kindest and most compassionate care given to them. They deserve it.”

In discussing her life of experience helping animals, wild or domestic she says; “My experience has shown me the joys that these little guys give us so freely, but unfortunately that also comes with the deep sense of loss and sorrow when we have to lose them.”

She also said, “With every case I see, I am acutely aware of this emotional bond, and I do everything I can, as a veterinarian, to ease both the pet’s pain, and the family’s grief. This practice has given me that opportunity. I see it as a high calling!”

Dr. Washburn is happy to be living in Colorado Springs with her husband Bryan, dog Max, and cat Floki. She is dedicated to the clients and their pets and is happy to prepare and guide you and your family through the peaceful passing of your pet with our mobile at home euthanasia service. She was trained by our founder Dr. Jim Humphries and learned from his knowledge, insight and compassion.
