Image of Doctor Acevedo at home euthanasia in Atlanta

Siomara Acevedo, DVM

Atlanta

Dr. Siomara Acevedo was born and raised in Puerto Rico before landing in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a toddler/in diapers when she started learning about animals at her grandparents’ small farm. She really enjoyed bottle feeding baby goats from the moment she learned how to walk. Her grandparents truly instilled kindness towards animals by taking injured stray dogs to the vet then nursing them back to health at their home.

We had such a healthy and healing experience with Dr. Sio helping us say goodbye to our Bella. We have three daughters who were comforted by Dr. Sio’s words and explanations as she talked through the process and allowed us all to ask as many questions as necessary until we were comfortable. She allowed us privacy in our intimate moments as we grieved Bella’s passing. She was kind, professional, considerate, informative and patient at every step. We are grateful for the compassionate care we and Bella received in such a difficult time.

So very grateful for Dr. Emma and Home with Dignity. Our German Shepherd Charlie was able to find rest in his home with family members around saying their farewells. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that we were able to provide Charlie such a beautiful send off with such comfort.

Dr. Ashley Ng was amazing. This was one of the most difficult things I’ve gone through in my adult life, seeing Kiki “my cat” struggle who’s been apart of my life for 14 years was terrible, but Home with Dignity guided me in the right direction and quickly worked with my schedule and offered plenty of options. Though this was an extremely difficult thing to move forward with, I’m grateful that my baby is no longer in pain and suffering.

Dr. Brozda is amazing and made our family feel very comfortable during a very hard time. I didn’t know what to expect but I did know that I didn’t want my dog to be stressed out in a vet office. Dr Brozda came in explained the process and as I held my dog she comfortably went to sleep while Dr Brozda talked through the process. I wouldn’t change one thing. I know my dog was happy in my arms in her last moments and I didn’t feel rushed. Dr Brozda is an angel on earth. I would highly recommend home with dignity.

Helping You Decide

Caregivers can use these quality of life assessment sheets to assess animals and guide decision-making for Home Hospice care or even track the timing of a pets decline as this helps us understand the right time for euthanasia. Use numbers from 0 to 10 (10 is ideal or normal) to score the patient’s condition. Not everyone needs this, but for those who would like to have a tool to understand their pet’s status, or to track ups and downs, this is a great tool for you
